We started out with a small group of families with a young man’s vision. This group is continuing to expand to include volunteers from all over who would like to be involved in reaching out to others. You can be apart of that group as well!
The “We Care for Cruces” ministry was actually the vision of a young 15 year old boy named Garrett Coppedge. After a week long mission trip to Abilene Texas working with the “Love and Care” ministry, Garrett saw a similar vision for Las Cruces and began to lay out some goals, purpose and vision for reaching the needy in our area. He first started inspiring his family small group, as they begin to deliver meals to people out on the streets to help establish a route. Then recently Garrett and his father Gary purchased a vehicle from the Border Patrol to help with the distribution of food. We are in the very beginning of this ministry and we hope to expand to other areas within the city helping people.
We hosted a Christmas Party for the Walnut Grove housing area, and it was a huge success! 9 families participated and tons of children got their picture taken with Santa and received 2 gifts each. It was a great evening
